Ithaca Community Chorus & Chamber Singers (ICC&CS)
Founded in 1976, the Ithaca Community Chorus and Chamber Singers includes over 100 students and Tompkins County residents. The Chorus membership finds commonality in the dedication to learning and performing history’s best choral offerings. The Chamber Singers is a select sub-group of the Chorus.

We are excited about our repertoire for the spring semester. After four years, we will take up the piece we were working on when COVID hit in March of 2020: Zoltan Kodaly’s magnificent Te Deum, a festive work celebrating the 250th anniversary of the recapture of Buda castle from the Turks. Kodaly was the foremost collector of Hungarian folk music and uses stylistic elements of it throughout.
We will complement the Kodaly with a beautiful work by Brahms that we performed in 1997: Schicksalslied, or “Song of Fate,” is considered to be one of Brahms’s best choral works, along with Ein Deutsches Requiem. One scholar says, “Had Brahms never written anything but this one work, it would alone have sufficed to rank him with the best masters.”
We are again privileged and delighted to have the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra accompanying us. The Chamber Singers will perform a set of part songs by Brahms.
